Rapido announces N LRC locomotives, cars, and sets featured

Rapido Trains has announced a conditional N scale Farewell to the LRC program covering LRC locomotives, passenger cars, and train sets. Production advances into tooling only if pre-order volume meets Rapido’s threshold.

Offerings include VIA Rail and Amtrak train sets (loco plus three cars), single locomotives, and additional coaches. Schemes include VIA delivery/Canada looks, Amtrak, and an MLW/Dofasco demonstrator. Locomotive features include working headlights, ditch lights, and number boards; factory-installed grab irons and handrails; underbody piping detail; scheme-specific rooftop details; MoPower capacitor; DC and DCC operation with sound options; and an 11″ suggested minimum radius. Set cars add working marker lights, etched-metal stirrups, full interiors with tinted windows, track-powered interior lighting, and a 14″ suggested minimum radius.

Bombardier’s LRC (Light, Rapid, Comfortable) corridor fleet is nearing retirement after about 45 years. The locomotives were built for 125 mph service (restricted to 100 mph in operation) and powered VIA’s Metropolis Montreal–Toronto runs in the 1990s.

The original June 15, 2026 conditional order deadline has been extended to October 15, 2026. Delivery is TBA pending the project advancing.
