Kato USA has announced a re-run of its N scale GE ES44AC “GEVO” locomotives. Road names in this round include CPKC, Canadian National, Canadian Pacific, and Ferromex.
Features include multiple body styles for as-delivered railroad details, a five-pole motor with dual brass flywheels, directional headlights with illuminated number boards, illuminated ditch lights, Kato magnetic knuckle couplers, and drop-in DCC compatibility (TCS K1D4, Digitrax DN163K1C, and ESU LokSound 5 micro DCC Direct for Kato USA). DC, DCC, and DCC+sound versions are part of the program as offered per road number.
GE’s Evolution Series ES44AC was built to meet EPA Tier 2 locomotive emissions rules, using the GEVO-12 prime mover and the oversized dual-fan radiator that defines the type.
Expected delivery is approximately October 2026.
