Atlas has announced Master N EMD SW9/1200 switchers as part of its Spring 2026 HO & N catalog, with new paint schemes on the Master SW9/1200 tooling.
Road names include Southern, Burlington Northern, Central Railroad of New Jersey, Conrail, Illinois Central Gulf, Pittsburg & Shawmut, Union Pacific, Wisconsin and Southern, and Chessie System (limited-edition collectors series). Silver (sound-ready) and Gold (ESU LokSound) versions are listed. Model features include golden-white LEDs, directional lighting, separately applied painted handrails where appropriate, blackened metal wheels, a Scale Speed motor, factory-installed AccuMate-style magnetic knuckle couplers, and accurate painting and printing.
EMD and GMD built roughly 815 SW9s from late 1950 through 1953 as 1,200 hp B-B yard and transfer switchers; the SW1200 continued the same general outline with later 567-series engines into the 1960s.
Pre-order deadline for the Spring 2026 catalog items is April 15, 2026. Atlas’s production schedule points to 4th Quarter 2026 delivery.
