Athearn has announced N scale 50′ FMC 5347 single-door box cars in the May + June 2026 catalog, covering both standard paint and Primed for Grime schemes.
Road names include Albany & Eastern (AERC), Arkansas-Oklahoma (AOK), Union Pacific (BKTY), Corinth & Counce (CCR), Chattahoochee Industrial (CIRR), Chicago & North Western (CNW), Rock Island (ROCK), and Texas South-Eastern (TSE). Primed for Grime covers AERC, UP, CCR, and CNW; the others are standard finishes. Each road is offered in multiple road numbers.
N features include a scale-profile brake wheel, roller bearing trucks, machined metal wheels, screw-mounted trucks, McHenry knuckle couplers, weighted bodies, Code 55/80 compatibility, and a 9¾″ minimum radius. Primed for Grime cars use faded base colors matched to in-service equipment as a starting point for further weathering.
FMC’s 50′ 5347 single-door cars were a common late-20th-century boxcar for shortline and Class I freights.
Estimated delivery is November 2027.
